A mentally unstable teenager named Ezekiel Maxwell, 17, brutally murdered a woman after allegedly hearing voices from the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and smoking a highly potent form of marijuana. Here are some excerpts taken from the article...
Maxwell attacked 51-year-old Mrs Tulloch on September 5 last year after a night smoking skunk and playing Grand Theft Auto.
He believed he was one of the principal characters called Carl Johnson, who carries a knife in the Playstation game, Croydon Crown Court was told.
Maxwell went into detail about his time with the game...
"On September 4 I played Grand Theft Auto until late. When I got up I felt a bit unhappy and aggressive. "I went out of the house at about 10am."
"I have a knife with me. I didn't know why I had a knife, I saw a woman, I stabbed her with the knife, I stabbed her three times, there was a lot of blood. After I stabbed the woman I ran home."
Comments: The bad press keeps rolling on in and this is probaly one of the most sensationalist I have ever seen. It demonizes two things that probaly go together like peanut butter and jelly and makes more light of the game itself than his actual mental disorder. Of course, this article comes from a online tabloid so it's really no surprise that they would do such a thing. (A Canadian tabloid made a reactionary article about the school shootings in Montreal. As expected, it made little mention of the shooter's past illnesses, only highlighting the games he played.)
It's easy to blame something instead of blaming yourself for not taking your prescriptions, huh?
